Recovery for Fortune 500 Telecommunications Company
A Fortune 100 telecommunications company was faced with hundreds of open claims. We immediately collaborated with the client and the insurers to develop a protocol for managing these claims and reporting of future matters, as well as for monitoring defense costs within the retentions of the respective policies covered by our appointment.During our review of open claims, we discovered that the primary carrier had neglected to issue a coverage position with respect to a claim on one of the two policies under which it had been reported. This error created the mistaken impression that the denial applied to both policies under which the claim was reported.
The results: we pressed the carrier for a coverage letter, which resulted in a seven-figure recovery for our client’s business unit which had been fronting the cost of defense on this claim.
