Beecher Carlson’s head of property claims was updating a disaster response plan at one of our hospitality client sites when a significant fire occurred. Once life safety issues were addressed, the immediate task at hand was to expedite temporary repairs and to isolate damaged property. Since the reason for the initial visit was to update the clients DRP, many of the first responders were out of date.Calling on years of experience as an independent adjuster, Jim Cyr contacted first responders that he knew were approved by the primary insurer. Working side by side through the night with the site safety coordinator, the necessary actions took place to mitigate the ultimate loss.
The results: due to the team’s prompt response and using approved responders, a $500,000 advance was issued within 14 days and the multi-million dollar claim was settled in less than four months.
