Beecher Carlson Significantly Increases Presence in Boston and Plans for Expanded Office Opening

Beecher Carlson, an insurance brokerage and risk management consulting company dedicated to delivering revolutionary solutions and service, today announced that it has significantly expanded its presence in Boston. The recent addition of 12 seasoned industry professionals in Boston deepens and expands Beecher Carlson’s expertise in the northeast region in property and casualty, executive liability, construction and claims and loss control services. The expansion builds on Beecher Carlson’s momentum, allowing clients to benefit from deep industry specialization, expertise in analytics and risk modeling and unmatched client service.

Beecher Carlson plans to open its expanded Boston office in April 2006. The office will be located at 15 Broad Street in the Financial District of downtown Boston. Beecher Carlson first established its presence in Boston in March 2005 under the leadership of Robert Bothwell and his team of Energy professionals, including Brenna Melvin and Geraldine Kerrigan. This team has worked exclusively with power generating facilities of all types and has successfully implemented insurance programs for IPP projects in several South American and Pacific Rim countries as well as multiple U.S. projects.

In September 2005, Beecher Carlson expanded its Boston presence further with the acquisition of the northeast healthcare practice from Gallagher Healthcare Insurance Services. This acquisition added five of the healthcare industry’s most well-known and respected professionals regionally and nationally to Beecher Carlson’s growing National Healthcare Practice: Berni Bussell, Jerilynn Leahy, Cathy Carnevale, Ross Downing and Bonnie Swann. Combined, the team has delivered comprehensive risk management, human resources and benefits services for every type of business affiliated with the healthcare industry, which includes physician groups, clinics, hospitals, long-term care facilities and managed care organizations.

The additions to Beecher Carlson’s Boston office are:
Richard J. DeVito
Managing Director

DeVito manages Beecher Carlson’s Boston office with a specialization in complex property, casualty and professional liability programs. He also specializes in construction Wrap-Ups. During his career, DeVito has implemented Wrap-Ups for Yale University, The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, The Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the University of Rhode Island. Before joining Beecher Carlson, he served as Senior Vice President at William Gallagher Associates in Boston and was the head of the Risk Management Practice Group. He has also served as a Senior Vice President of Hobbs Group with responsibility for the Boston Office, Risk Manager for Fidelity Investments and as a Senior Account Executive for Arkwright Mutual Insurance Company. DeVito is a graduate of Bentley College.

Dr. Andrew Banasiewicz
Senior Vice President of Analytics

Dr. Banasiewicz’s current work focuses on the design of data-intensive decision support and measurement systems. His areas of expertise include predictive modeling and general multivariate analysis, experimental test design, database model planning, and decision simulation. For Beecher Carlson, he is developing a comprehensive risk analysis platform, which will support objective, firm-level risk profiling and quantification, risk determinants delineation and rank-ordering and on-going risk management decision impact simulation capability.

During his career, he has held several senior level analysis and modeling positions in database management, advertising and market research industries. Dr. Banasiewicz is a frequent speaker at national conferences. He is the author of several methodological and topical articles published in peer-reviewed, professional journals, including DM Review, Journal of Database Marketing, Marketing Intelligence and Planning, DM Review Direct and others. His book, Database Analytics: Translating Data into Competitive Advantage is expected to be released in early 2006. Dr. Banasiewicz holds a Ph.D. in business research from Louisiana State University.

Mark Bossi, AIC, ARM
Vice President

Bossi is a Senior Risk Services Consultant with over 14 years experience in the insurance industry and specializes in multi-jurisdictional Workers’ Compensation and General Liability. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, Bossi served as Vice President in Marsh’s Risk Consulting Practice, where he was designated as New England Claim Practice Leader and the recipient of the New England Operations Marsh Excellence Award in 2003. Bossi has also served as Account Executive at ACE/ESIS in Boston and held risk management positions for two Northeast wholesale/retail companies. He began his career as a claims adjuster at Aetna Life & Casualty.
Bossi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Bridgewater State College as well as several insurance related designations, including Associate in Claims and Associate in Risk Management.

Neal F. Cafferky, ARM
Client Service Manager

As a client service manager , Cafferky is responsible for reviewing contractual language, developing procedure manuals, collection and verification of contractor enrollment forms and monthly payroll reports, issuing certificates of insurance, interfacing with the insurance carrier and attending pre-bid meetings and pre-construction meetings to assist contractors. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, earning a degree in Finance and Operations Management. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, Cafferky worked at William Gallagher Associates and at Hobbs Group where he was responsible for the management of Construction Wrap-Up business.

Fabiola Dolcé
Risk Analyst

As a risk analyst in Beecher Carlson’s Energy Practice, Dolcé is responsible for coordination of client deliverables and overall placement management supporting renewal and new business production. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, she provided legal support services at Eaton Vance Management and managed cost control on the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center project while at Clark Construction Company.

EJ Durgin, MCSE
Vice President, Computer Operations

Durgin is responsible for the implementation and management of Beecher Carlson’s computer network infrastructure. He has more than 10 years experience in the information technology field and brings a broad knowledge of operations management and a proven track record of systems design and implementation. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, Durgin served as an IT Director with Hobbs Group. He holds a BA from Keene State College in New Hampshire and has earned multiple technology certifications with Microsoft.

Jane K. Hahn
Vice President

Hahn is a Vice President in Beecher Carlson’s Executive Liability Practice. Her responsibilities include consulting, design, implementation, and brokering of Executive Liability programs, which include Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Cyber Risks, Fidelity and other related lines of coverage. Hahn’s most recent experience includes serving as Assistant Vice President of Willis Executive Risks, where she was responsible for the management, program design, brokering, and consultative services for Fortune 1000 clients, including specialty expertise in non-for-profit healthcare, retail, manufacturing, and financial institution risks. Prior to Willis, Hahn was an Account Executive for Royal & SunAlliance’s Professional and Financial Underwriting practice in both the Boston and Pittsburgh markets. She began her career as an Underwriter for Chubb Group in Pittsburgh and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Allegheny College.

Peter McGoldrick, Esq.
Vice President

McGoldrick is a Vice President in Beecher Carlson’s Executive Liability Practice where his responsibilities include broking and consulting services on all management liability and related lines of coverage including Director’s and Officer’s Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Errors & Omissions, Cyber Liability and Fidelity. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, McGoldrick served as Assistant Vice President at Willis’ Executive Risk Practice team in Boston. He was responsible for all management liability broking and consulting services on over 30 clients both publicly traded and privately held. Prior to his work at Willis, McGoldrick was an underwriter at Liberty Mutual concentrating on specialty risk coverage placements for National Accounts as well as captive insurance product development. He holds a B.A. from Fairfield University and a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law. He is admitted to the Bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Anne- Marie Niethold
Vice President

Niethold has over fifteen years experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, she worked at William Gallagher Associates in the RIMS/Environmental Group, responsible for the placement and servicing of large casualty accounts concentrating on cash flow. Prior to WGA, Niethold worked at AON Risk Services of MA., Inc. At AON, she concentrated on large risk cash flow programs including self insurance for such retail clients as DeMoulas Supermarkets, Papa Gino’s, Big Y Foods, Perkin Elmer and Standex. Niethold is currently enrolled in the Associate in Risk Management Program.

Uta Randall
Senior Vice President

Randall is responsible for providing senior leadership in marketing and servicing large casualty and property accounts. Her focus is on the design, implementation and execution of large account casualty programs. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, Randall spent more than fifteen years at Hobbs Group Inc., which later became Hilb, Rogal and Hobbs, where she held a number of marketing and marketing management positions that included managing the daily service to clients, marketing risk-financing programs, leading a team of account managers and expanding market relationships. She earned her AB at Vassar College, holds a Broker’s License for Property and Casualty and has received her CPCU designation.

Nicole M. Rudolph, MBA
Vice President

Rudolph is Vice President of Sales and Production where she is responsible for the production and sales of all products and services including Property, Casualty and Executive Liability, with a concentration in the retail and energy industries. Rudolph’s experience includes working at ESIS, Inc. as the Northeast Sales Manager, responsible for the sales and marketing of all claims administration products, including claims management, information technology, risk control and engineering, to mid-size and large national accounts. Prior to her work at ESIS, Rudolph was Assistant Vice President of Marsh with a focus in Risk Management Casualty. She holds a B.A. from Colgate University and a MBA from Boston College.

Allen Williams
Director, Risk Control

As director of risk control, Williams is responsible for coordinating pre-loss accident prevention and regulatory compliance services directed to the specific needs of Beecher Carlson clients. Williams has performed risk control work for more than 25 years. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, Williams served as National Director of Risk Control at Hilb, Rogal & Hobbs. He began his insurance career at Liberty Mutual and has also worked in the Risk Management department at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. Williams has a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. He has also earned the designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Loss Control Management.
